The Qi Aerista IoTea Brewer helps to make this easier with the Boil and Cool feature. It will function as a variable temperature kettle that will first boil the water and then automatically notifies you when the water has cooled down to the right temperature.
So no more wasted time holding a thermometer by the kettle.
Here is a step-by-step video guide:
1. On the Brewer page of the Qi Aerista app, tap 'Settings' (on the top left corner).
2. Tap on 'Heat Mode' (third item from top).
3. Select 'Boil and Cool' and tap 'Confirm'.
4. Proceed with the normal heating process with Qi Aerista IoTea Brewer.
Note: if you wish to restore to the default normal brewing mode, please go to Settings>Heat Mode to switch.
First, you will need to boil the water. Second, you will have to let the water cool to the right temperature, by either guessing or a thermometer. Then you may steep your tea.
Here I'll tell you that ALL of the above work can be done automatically with a few taps on the Qi Aerista IoTea Brewer's app.
Please check out this step-by-step video guide:
1. On the Brewer page of the Qi Aerista app, tap 'Settings' (on the top left corner).
2. Tap on 'Brew Mode' (second item from top).
3. Select 'Boil and Brew' and tap 'Confirm'.
4. Proceed with the normal brewing process with Qi Aerista IoTea Brewer.
Note: if you wish to restore to the default normal brewing mode, please go to Settings>Brew Mode to switch.
1. On the Brewer page of the Qi Aerista app, tap 'Reservation' (on the top right corner).
2. A clock dial will appear, displaying your current time. Set the desired start time. Then tap 'CONFIRM'. In the example below, we set the brewing time to 7:25 am.
3. The Brewer page will now show "Reservation Wait" status with a countdown timer. In our example, the waiting time is 17 hours. There you go! Your Qi Aerista will set to brew at 7:25 am.
Please note, the Reservation function is only available in Brew mode and not available in Heat (heating water) or Keep Warm mode.

Therefore you may want to consider adding a share hotspot (or WISP client) router to do the trick. Essentially you would create a separate private W-Fi network with specific settings to connect to your brewer and smartphone on one end, and the public/office Wi-Fi on the other. Your smartphone can connect to either one after the connection is successful.
Our recommended choice for the share hotspot router is the TP-Link WR802N or WR902AC router based on its simplicity, small form factor and affordability. Besides this model, feel free to test with other available router models that work.
1. Power up the shared hotspot router.
2. Set the hotspot router to Share Hotspot or WISP Client Router Mode.
3. In the appropriate setup page, enter the public Wi-Fi SSID and password.
4. In the appropriate setup page, enter the private Wi-Fi SSID and password.
5. Make sure the private network has the following settings:
6. Once the private network has been set up, connect your smartphone and your brewer to it by following the connection procedure in the user guide.
7. Once the brewer connection has been set up, you should be able to connect to it even if your smartphone is connected to the public network.
]]>Here's a workaround solution that involves the use of a mobile hotspot and a 2nd smartphone:
In order for the Qi Aerista Smart Tea Brewer to connect successfully to the app over Wi-Fi, it is important to have your router configured with the right settings.
But even if you do, incompatibility issues between the brewer, app and the hundreds of router models out there may still exist. This will unfortunately prevent the connection from getting established successfully.
Therefore to bypass the connection issues with your current router, you may want to try the following way to set up a successful brewer connection.
This piggybacked second router can be any model that is able to connect with the brewer with no issues. Be sure to configure the piggybacked router with these settings:
Our recommended choice for the piggybacked router is the TP-Link WR702N router based on its simplicity, small form factor and affordability. Besides this model, feel free to test with other available router models that work.
If you don't want to go behind the scenes and configure the router settings yourself, we have pre-configured TP-Link WR702N routers available for purchase at a discounted price (Link). All you need to do is the following:
1. Insert one end of the LAN cable into the LAN slot of the second router.
2. Insert the other end of the LAN cable into the one of the LAN slots of your current router.
3. Connect power to the TP-Link WR702N router with the USB adapter.
4. Once the light on the TP-Link WR702N router stops flashing, connect your smartphone to this router. For our pre-configured routers, the SSID and password are shown on the back of the router.
5. Turn on your brewer and proceed to connect your brewer over the TP-Link WR702N router.
6. Once connection is successful, your smartphone can connect back to your existing router. Now you should be able to connect and control your smart tea maker on your app.

What is a dual-band router?
A dual-band router has 2 wireless communication channels, one on 2.4GHz and one on 5GHz. For a further explanation on dual-band routers, please check out this youtube video from D-Link:
Linking your brewer to your dual-band router
The Qi Aerista Smart Brewer communicates with the Qi Aerista app over Wi-Fi through the 2.4GHz channel but NOT the 5GHz channel.
So if you use a dual-band router, it is important that it is configured correctly so that the brewer is assigned to the right 2.4GHz channel to establish the brewer-app connection.
If you are having trouble connecting, here are some possible causes:
Cause 1 - Smartphone is connected to 5GHz Wi-Fi network
If your router is set up to run both 2.4GHz and 5GHz channels as 2 separate Wi-Fi networks, then 2 network names (i.e. 2 SSIDs) will show up in your Wi-Fi network list. If your smartphone connects to the 5GHz channel by default, then your brewer will be incorrectly assigned with the 5GHz channel on which it cannot communicate.
Solution:
Step 1 - Connect your smartphone to the Wi-Fi network that runs on the 2.4GHz channel.
Step 2 - Follow the instructions on your app to connect your brewer.
Step 3 - Once you can connect to the brewer, you should be able to control the brewer with the app. From then on even if you are connected to the 5GHz Wi-Fi network, you should still be able to control your brewer because both of them are now connected to the same router.
Cause 2 - Brewer can't connect to 2.4GHz channel in single Wi-Fi network mode
If your router is set up to run both 2.4GHz and 5GHz channels as a single Wi-Fi network, then only 1 network name (i.e. 1 SSID) will show up in your Wi-Fi network list. For any new wireless device such as your brewer, your router will automatically determine the best channel to connect with (i.e. band steering). However for certain router models, they have difficulty in assigning the 2.4GHz channel to your brewer.
Solution:
Step 1 - Follow your user manual of your router, log in to your router and enter its main admin page.
Step 2 - Go to wireless management page.

Step 3 - Disable single Wi-Fi network mode and set up 2 separate wireless networks, one for 2.4GHz and the other for 5GHz. (i.e. turn off band steering)
Step 4 - Connect your smartphone to the Wi-Fi network that runs on the 2.4GHz channel.
Step 5 - Follow the instructions on your app to connect your brewer.
Step 6 - After you brewer is connected to the app, you can revert your network settings back to single Wi-Fi network mode.
First go back to the wireless management page of your router. Then enable single wireless network mode. Make sure the single wireless network has the same SSID and password as the 2.4GHz channel. Otherwise, the brewer will not connect properly.
